Spring 2023 Newsletter

There’s a lot of “change afoot” across the U.S. with Trump’s indictment (what a trip to watch!), Passover/Easter happening, and our long, wet winter in California finally changing to Spring.

At Schonfield Consulting, we’re experiencing change as well, with a diverse group of clients, our growing team, and increasing connections. See more below about several new clients and their inspiring work.

Please reach out if you have a project you want to discuss or to tell us about any changes on your end. We’d love to hear from you!

In partnership,

Anne and the Schonfield Consulting Team

Bayer Supports STEAM Education

Since summer 2022, we’ve worked with Bayer, an international biotechnology company with a biomanufacturing and development campus in Berkeley. We’re supporting implementation of their STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and math) Education community benefits program, part of Bayer’s recent revised Development Agreement with the City of Berkeley. Per the agreement, Bayer will invest $1.5 million in awards over 5 years to support local organizations working to diversity the STEAM workforce pipeline and reach Berkeley students traditionally under-represented in STEAM fields. We helped Bayer organize a grant review committee, requested proposals from leading organizations, and supported the committee’s initial selection process. Bayer finalized the first round of awards in late 2022, and will support multiple community organizations working in pre-K through community college grade levels.

Fundraising with United Women of East Africa

Since mid-2022, we’ve partnered with United Women of East Africa – a non-profit based in San Diego that is deeply rooted in the East African immigrant community, offering health services, education, youth advocacy, and community building. We’re working closely with UW’s Executive Director to increase their fundraising so they can expand their important work. The fundraising support includes foundation prospecting, foundation outreach strategy and mapping the landscape of other refugee organizations.
